Visual Arts, Columbia University, New York

This course examines ways of looking and ways of seeing, both personally & professionally as artists and in a larger cultural context. Through field trips to contemporary art and other cultural sites, conversations with visiting critical thinkers and practicioners, readings, discussions, and visual & written responses, we will examine how we look, think, act, create and respond--critically questioning our own artistic practices and ways of looking at the world.

Prompt #7

The medium is etched copper. The contours are taken from fragments of the pictures I took and the Met. The quote is the wording of the prompt for this post. The partial picture of me was completely unintentional. When I posted the image I had take on this blog, I noticed something weird in the thumbnail. When I opened it up I discovered that, while taking the picture of the print, I had accidentally pressed a setting that overlaid my own picture from my phone's front camera on the main subject. I kind of like the way that accident works with the theme of the piece so I left it in (my only other picture is blurry anyways).
