reflection as a creation of memories
remembrance as the invisible step imagined at the bottom of the staircase
legs limp, fall under you in your sleep
weight of stone-sculpted mother in your recurring dream
your sweaty back thigh when it is finished
finding bunnies fucking upon a full moon
red door and key and no knob and no intention to enter
and violence is at times pink
but you are bleeding because you have experienced its essence
glass turns white when it is broken
piecing together pieces why did you leave me
behind I hide behind big boulders to hide feeble wrists
is deconstructing porn a sign of maturity
if there is no problem then there is a problem
names you don't know just nod
chicken bones lay bare (use for stock)
once a month you get rashes on your butt and you don't know why
fugues: it just happens every month
21. number things for no reason
arbitrary rituals. what you liking when you are convinced to like it
acidic reaction / immediate curiosity bite through the cracks + seep through
ambiguity always in vogue
- behind ambiguity hide knowing, hide not knowing
- behind authority hide knowing, hide not knowing
- behind stupidity hide knowing, hide not knowing
seduction of translucency, contextual cliché
a mathematical gradient does not embody rothko
"curate yourself to be vulnerable, tell it like it is"
it is always good to have many names inside names inside names
he won't understand unless you categorize your work under a preconceived term
political, liminal, spiritual, subersive
an aesthetic, its materiality, a found-object, the uncanny
a commentary on, an inversion of
🍎F --> R --> change all Rs to Ls. 🍎F --> L --> change all Ls to Rs.
The Artists Formerly Known As Eye & Idea
Columbia University Visual Arts 2014
Visual Arts, Columbia University, New York
This course examines ways of looking and ways of seeing, both personally & professionally as artists and in a larger cultural context. Through field trips to contemporary art and other cultural sites, conversations with visiting critical thinkers and practicioners, readings, discussions, and visual & written responses, we will examine how we look, think, act, create and respond--critically questioning our own artistic practices and ways of looking at the world.
